Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026. This policy covers both the racingroach.com website and the RacingRoach desktop application.

1. The short version

The RacingRoach desktop application is local-first: it runs entirely on your machine, sends no telemetry, requires no account, and does not upload your crawl data anywhere. This website (racingroach.com) is a static marketing site; it does not run analytics or tracking scripts, and it does not set tracking cookies. The sections below explain what that means in more detail, and what happens on the rare occasions we do handle personal data (for example, a support email or a license purchase).

2. Data collected by the desktop application

The application crawls websites you point it at and stores the results locally, in a database file on your own device. It does not phone home: crawl configuration, crawl results, and issue reports are never transmitted to us or to any third party by the application itself.

  • No telemetry. The application does not collect usage analytics, crash reports, or diagnostic data about your machine or your crawls.
  • No account. The free build requires no sign-in and creates no user account or profile with us.
  • License files. A paid license is a signed file verified entirely offline by the application; it does not check in with a server, and using it does not transmit crawl data to us.
  • Automatic updates. The application periodically checks a release endpoint to see whether a newer signed build is available, so it can silently apply updates in the background. That check can reveal your current app version and IP address to the hosting infrastructure serving that endpoint, in the same way any network request does — we do not use it to build a profile of you, and no crawl data is included in it.

3. Data collected by this website

racingroach.com is a static site. It does not run third-party analytics (for example, no Google Analytics), advertising, or tracking pixels, and it does not set cookies for tracking purposes. Standard web-server access logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp, user agent) may be retained briefly by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention, as is standard for any website.

If this changes — for example, if we later add first-party analytics — we will update this policy and this section before doing so.

4. Data you give us directly

Some interactions necessarily involve us receiving personal data directly from you:

  • Support requests. If you email support@racingroach.com or use the support page, we receive your email address and whatever you send us, used only to respond to your request.
  • Purchases. If you buy a license through racingroach.com/buy, our payment processor collects the billing information needed to process the transaction (for example, name, email, and payment details); we receive confirmation of the purchase and the email address needed to deliver your license, but we do not store your full payment card details ourselves.

5. Cookies

This website does not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. Any cookie set (for example, by a future first-party feature) would be limited to what's strictly necessary for that feature to work, and this policy will be updated if that changes.

6. Your rights (including GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or another jurisdiction with similar data-protection law, you have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or export of any personal data we hold about you (for example, support correspondence or purchase records), and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. Because the desktop application itself does not send us your data, most of these requests will concern support or purchase records held directly by us or by our payment processor.

To exercise any of these rights, contact support@racingroach.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with applicable law.

7. Data retention

We retain support correspondence and purchase records only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above (for example, to respond to follow-up questions or process a refund request), or as required by law.

8. Children's privacy

The Software and this website are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to support@racingroach.com.
